SOAR is a gifted pull-out program that meets two classes per week. There are approximately 100 students in grades two thorough eight, forty-seven students at CJHS. Students must score in the top 5 percent on a standardized test. Seventh and eighth graders attend a field trip to the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. They also attend a three day Nature's Classroom Camp in Du Bois, IL in the fall.
The CJHS scholar Bowl Team is called the Purple Plague. They usually attend about twelve meets per year. There are approximately fourteen students in grades six thorough eight.
S.O.S. is a Saturday class that is held twice a year. It is for gifted and high-achieving or highly creative students. About 250 students (grades three thorough eight) from the surrounding communities attend. Classes include science, art, cake decorating, wood working, crafts, babysitting, rockets, crime investigation, and computers.
